Intel® Seacliff Trail SDN-Enabled Switch Reference Platform Based on Intel Alta FM6000 and Intel Xeon® E3-1100 Series
SEPTEMBER 10, 2012 – ADI Engineering, Inc. today announced it is offering development kits based on the Intel® “Seacliff Trail” top of rack switch reference platform and the Intel® Ethernet Switch FM6000 (Alta) and Intel® Xeon® Processor E3-1105C (Gladden). ADI Engineering also announced it is developing custom derivatives of the Intel Seacliff Trail reference design, creating customized FM6000-based OEM products that scale to volume production through ADI. Seacliff Trail is now in production and available from ADI Engineering as a quick-start SDN development kit or volume OEM product.
Seacliff Trail provides 48 SFP+ 10Gb Ethernet ports and four QSFP 40Gb Ethernet ports, controlled by the low-latency Intel Ethernet Switch FM6000 (Alta). ADI Engineering’s Advanced Mezzanine Card (AMC) processor module based on the Intel® Xeon® Processor E3-1105C is integrated into Seacliff Trail to provide control, management and supervisory functions. Third-party software support includes the Intel Software Defined Networking (SDN) software framework, Wind River Open Network Software (ONS), Open vSwitch, and LINC open-source OpenFlow 1.3.
ADI Engineering’s “Open IP” model gives OEMs design ownership and full production control of all ADI-developed derivatives of the Intel Seacliff Trail reference platform.
