New Dev Kit Brings Network Virtualization to Low-Cost Edge Devices
ADI Engineering, Inc., a leading provider of custom Intel-based products for networking, communications, data center, wireless and IoT, announced that its RCC-DFF NFV-enabled edge platform has been selected as part of Intel’s new Edge Cloud SDK. The new SDK enables services development, installation, and test in a virtualized environment deployed at the network edge, or even inside the customer premise. The SDK includes ADI’s RCC-DFF platform validated and pre-installed with WindRiver OVP real-time virtualization environment and a complete tool suite, Intel System Studio supporting a Software as a Service (SaaS), Infrastructure as Service (IaaS) model utilizing SDN/NFV principles.
Network virtualization is rapidly transforming the data center, but its benefits are even greater when deployed at the network edge. By enabling fundamental gains in intelligence, service delivery, security, and re-programmability, NFV at the edge has tremendous potential to reduce equipment costs while enabling service providers, carriers, and OEMs to offer dynamically-programmed services. This new SDK allows customers to create and deploy innovative next-generation NFV-enabled devices at the network edge using low-cost hardware from ADI.
