WildPackets is a leading provider of tools that allow network engineers to remotely troubleshoot, secure, and optimize network services over both wired and wireless enterprise networks. WildPackets’ products enable powerful, distributed monitoring and analysis of complex enterprise networks encompassing a broad range of network technologies (Fast Ethernet, Gigabit Ethernet, WLAN, WAN, etc.) and network services (data services, VoIP, VoWiFi, etc.).
The Challenge:
WildPackets needed a turnkey hardware partner to develop and manufacture its new Omni Wireless Sensor, allowing its internal engineering resources to remain focused on its core remote monitoring and analysis software. WildPackets required very low per-unit costs and a highly accelerated time to market.

The Solution:
ADI delivered the Omni Wireless Sensor to WildPackets as a reconfiguration of our Pronghorn 802.11 OEM Application Platform. Pronghorn was reconfigured with the specific 802.11 radio, antennas and custom branding required by WildPackets, but otherwise the main board and enclosure designs were reused without modification. This strategy enabled reuse not only of the pre-existing Pronghorn design, but also its emissions/safety certifications. The end result was a smooth development program with very low NRE costs, cost-effective volume manufacturing by ADI, and a highly compressed time to market.
