Overview

ADI Engineering’s new White Oak Canyon gateway (formerly codenamed “Cross Hill”) is a foundational part the Intel® Gateway Solutions for the Internet of Things (IoT), formerly codenamed “Moon Island.”  ADI Engineering developed White Oak Canyon based on the new Intel® Quark™ SoC X1000, and it comes pre-loaded with a comprehensive communications and security software solution from Wind River® and McAfee®.  White Oak Canyon provides seamless connectivity between devices and the cloud, ensuring interoperability of edge devices through an open architecture enabling rapid application and service differentiation.

White Oak Canyon is available from ADI Engineering as a turnkey OEM product with the Wind River and McAfee software, or with Yocto Linux for customers with their own software solution.  When needed, ADI can quickly customize the White Oak Canyon hardware and software to specific customer requirements, providing a truly differentiated product optimized around your use case and that we can quickly launch into volume production.

The White Oak Canyon hardware platform provides a full suite of highly integrated features, including the 400 MHz Intel Quark X1000 SoC, 2x 10/100Mb Ethernet ports, 1GB DDR3 memory, integrated wireless including ZigBee, 2G/3G cellular, Wi-Fi, and Bluetooth, TPM, analog inputs and digital I/O, optional 1- and 3-phase AC power measurement, RS-232, isolated RS-485, USB, and MicroSD.

ADI Engineering is closely partnered with Portwell on White Oak Canyon to deliver comprehensive design-through-production services under an open supply chain model that balances normally conflicting needs for flexible hardware and software customization, agile new production introduction (NPI), and cost-effective ongoing manufacturing and support.  Engage ADI early-on for development kits, customization, NPI, and initial or low-volume production, and shift to Portwell directly for volume production, standard products, and complimentary IoT standard product offerings.  Together, ADI and Portwell have the agility to structure customer engagements to provide the optimal mix of hardware and software customization (when needed), new product introduction support and service, initial low-volume production ramp, and ongoing high volume production with total cradle-to-grave continuity but without margin stacking.

First customer shipments of White Oak Canyon will be in early May 2014.  ADI is currently taking orders for development kits, initial production, and customization programs – please contact us for additional information and pricing.
