Embedded Excellence
ADI Engineering’s mission is to improve the overall quality and time-to-market of embedded electronics devices. With its distinctively strong engineering team and open customer engagement policies, ADI Engineering sets itself apart by providing design certainty and production control to all of its customers. ADI excels in the development and manufacturing of complex, high-performance embedded products incorporating leading-edge technology. ADI's engineering and manufacturing capabilities lead the industry, and have been carefully developed across our 19 year history. Our substantial investment in product research and development, process and tools, and personnel translates into direct benefits to our clients.

Trusted Manufacturing, Open IP
Long before the current economic downturn started, ADI founded its business in 1990 based on an progressive model of flexible design licensing and customer-driven production control called Open IP. As a trusted, stable and experienced US-based ODM, ADI stands alone in supporting its customers as they in their sole discretion make the decision to have ADI build their product, or to take delivery of ADI's comprehensive "manufacturing transfer package" and build it themselves. ADI brings to the table an active alliance with the world's largest electronics contract manufacturer, offering unprecedented raw materials purchasing power, quality and process maturity. ADI seamlessly manages volume manufacturing at world-class factories in the US, Mexico and China. But ulimately, the decision to use our manufacturing to go direct to your own factory is yours and yours alone. ADI has built a unique, successful business around Open IP.

Doing More With Less
As many companies downsize, as product development budgets slashed, and as competitive pressures increase, innovation becomes ever more challenging. Old approaches of design-from-scratch products in many cases are no longer viable. While off-the-shelf OEM products and ODM-supplied semi-custom products can help, even these approaches do not carry the benefits they once did. Traditional OEM products such as single board computers, COM modules, and even ODM-supplied semi-custom designs are based on closed IP, and they create single-vendor lock-in and sole sourced vendor dependencies that are increasingly risky in today's economic climate. In many cases, ADI's off-the-shelf products offer a complete solution for OEMs. When customization is necessary, we can often leverage our pre-existing product IP to create semi-custom solutions with greatly reduced time to market and expense compared to from-scratch designs. And when a fully custom design is required, ADI can leverage our seasoned engineering staff, Intel "early access" technology access, world-class factories, and highly efficient process to deliver a design with lower total cost, time and risk than competitive design houses. In all cases, our open IP and customer-driven production model allows us to provide flexible manufacturing services or transfer the product design for our customer to build themselves.

Custom Embedded Intel Architecture (x86) Solutions
ADI is leading the wave of a new breed of embedded x86 (also known as "Intel Architecture", or IA) solutions: Small form factor, low power, high performance, with ADI providing application-specific customizations quickly for quantities starting at 1ku. x86 offers tremendous benefits in many embedded applications - unmatched software availability and support, scalable performance, and architectural continuity from the desktop development environment to the embedded target for a streamlined deployment process and predictable target behavior. The sheer market size for x86 means that key innovations are normally introduced there first. Multi-core technology, virtualization, and next-generation processes (90nm, 65nm, 45nm and soon 32nm) all had their first widespread commercial availability with x86 processors.

As Intel® Atom, the Intel® EP80579 Integrated Processor, Intel Canmore media processors, and new embedded Intel® Core™2 Duo processors address x86’s traditional power, complexity, cost and size disadvantages, a new class of fully custom x86 applications is rapidly emerging. Intel's significant advances are finally making x86 a mainstream embedded architecture, bringing the benefits of x86 technology to entirely new classes of embedded communications, security, VPN, wireless, industrial and media processing products that until now could only be effectively served by other embedded architectures.

ADI Engineering is aggressively meeting the need for this new breed of custom embedded x86 product solutions. As one of a select few "early access" partners of Intel, ADI is offering next-generation single board computers, development kits, custom design services, and turnkey product manufacturing for Intel Atom, Canmore, EP80579, and embedded Intel Core2 Duo processors.

Custom Product Manufacturing

Flexible, high-quality and low-cost volume manufacturing of custom-designed products is a core competency of ADI. Through our active alliance with the global leader in electronics manufacturing, ADI provides a dependable manufacturing option to our clients - usually at lower cost and with less risk than they could obtain directly themselves.

ADI: The Only Open IP ODM

ADI's dedicated production specialists manage the hassles and complexities of volume manufacturing at every stage - offloading clients to spend time on strategic tasks that are of more value to them. ADI's world-class factories in Mexico and China deliver low cost, high quality manufacturing of custom products starting at 1ku quantities. ADI offers not only ongoing manufacturing of boards and turnkey systems, but also sustaining engineering, flexible supply chain management, materials procurement, warranty return/repair service, and even per-unit order fulfillment services.

Unlike typical ODMs however, ADI has made design credibility, customer service, and flexibility the cornerstones of its approach. ADI always offers flexible IP transfer terms so that clients can obtain IP rights and the build their custom designs themselves, when their volume ramps high enough to make this a more cost effective alternative.
